  • Consulting on land & stewardship projects for individuals and organizations.
  • Consulting around edible landscaping, permaculture & forest gardening.
  • Mentoring in ecology, wildlife tracking and growing food.

Managed Forest Plans - MFTIP Tax Breaks

If you live in Ontario, own 9.88 acres + of forested land, and believe in being a good steward, you may qualify for a significant property tax break.

Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP)

Under the MFTIP, landowners with the help of our provincially certified MFPA services create a 20-year stewardship plan for their property.  This can include areas such as:

  • Sustainable firewood harvesting (personal or commercial)
  • Recreational trail building/maintenance
  • Wildlife habitat improvement
  • And more.

As part of the plan we also walk the land with landowners to answer questions about ecology, species identification and sustainable land management practices. We will provide you with maps detailing the ecology of your property including tree, plant and wildlife inventories.

The deadline in June 30 each year to qualify for the following tax year. Book early as we get VERY busy in May/June and may not be able to accommodate last minute inquiries.

Properties entered into the MFTIP program have the forested components of their property re-assessed at 25% the municipal rate.
